My solution to the insurance crisis

Require every elected official's salary be cut by 10% and that money is used to pay the increase insurance costs for residents. Every year another 5% is cut until they come up with a solution. We'd see some real action then.

Don't forget that sinkholes also increase the insurance costs in Central Florida. The more pumping of well water, the greater the risk. As our population grows, the more wells will be dug. Sinkholes and tornadoes are more common in the inland, "hurricane safe" zones.

I do agree with Flyer Anon that construction in the riskier areas should be discouraged. At the very least there should be a cap on insurance coverage for those buildings--something like $100K including contents.
