Kelly Gets a Job in New York

Thanks to Wayne Garcia on the Blurbex, I learned last week that Kelly Benjamin left Joe Redner's campaign and immediately was offered a job in New York. Unfortunately Kelly's entertaining post on the matter was yanked by Kelly after a phone call.

I did leave the Redner campaign but I didnt switch allegiances. This isnt like some Kathryn Harris campaign team fiasco. The fact is Jim Norman is one of the worst public officials in Hillsborough County (if not THE worst, but with Ronda Storms in there that's a competitive title. Norman's legacy will be one of ignoring what's best for County citizens in favor of supporting developer and special interests and those elite conservatives who have contributed to his already bulging campaign war chest. His voting philosophy is horribly dangerous for the area, hell bent on destroying the environment, expanding sprawl, and leading this County into tremendous debt while ignoring serious growth management issues that will take decades to fix. As far as the third party candidate Arronte goes, she's *ok* and I admire her tenacity to run, but I have serious concerns about her political conviction. Rumor has it she was a registered Republican until she decided to run for County Commission yet she's been presenting herself as a dedicated Democrat at neighborhood forums all over town. That kind of deceit doesnt jive with me.
So yes, I encourage folks to vote for Joe Redner on November 7th. He's got some great progressive ideas and would be a welcome addition to the closed minded Hillsborough County Commission. Plus, Tampa politics as a whole sure would be a lot more boring without Joe Redner's presence. As his former campaign slogan asks: "Why the hell not?"

cheers from NYC
