Alligator Story

More reasons to read the Times:

I love this opening line:

"The Lake Roberta alligator had a deal with its human neighbors: They didn't feed it, and it didn't eat them."

It was an ugly day in the neighborhood

The alligator that lived in Lake Roberta was a good neighbor until he showed up dead Sept. 27. By ALEXANDRA ZAYAS Published October 6, 2006.

"Nobody knows how the Lake Roberta alligator died. Its body was found Sept. 27, its front feet missing. Some neighbors suspect poisoning came first, then mutilation."

We ought to put up a reward leading to any information about the alleged murder of the gator.

There are some sick fucks in Central Tampa. Animal beaters, sexual offenders, various sleazoids...

I loved the idea of moving here two years ago but I'm beginning to wonder if it is an good place to raise my kids.

and what?? do you think that Lutz or Carrollwood are any better?? don't be such a reactionary. There are sleazoids EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with taxes, insurance, gas and property being as expensive as the are, I can bet the someone probably killed the gator just to save some money on food for the family. Someone in the hood is having gator for dinner!!!

I've been here two years, it's not reactionary.

Seminole Heights is a great neighborhood for singles and couples, no doubt.

But it has a looooong way to go before it is family friendly. I'm not even going to get into the long list why, the blog would probably crash if I started a list.

Maybe that's good for some people, maybe it's bad but it is the truth, not a reactionary statement to a mutilated alligator.

Sad to see that some feel this place isnt family friendly.
But tis wrong..this is a great neigborhood.

Compared to where in Tampa?

Many areas.

Lutz and Carrolwood are ok but not as friendly as you think.Too much traffic up there to.

Lived in many areas of Tampa..This is the place where the crime is not so bad .We dont hear gunshots all night long.Nor do I have to worry about being "robbed" in my drive way.
My neighbors give a damn about the others around them and show they care by keeping an eye out and if you cannot appreciate that sort of neigborhood then maybe you all should consider another hood.
Seminole Rocks by far.

anon 10:19: I would suggest that before you continue making statements about SH not being family friendly due to crime, that you start watching the news and reading the newspaper. Please keep a log of all of the crime reports and the places they occurr. I PROMISE to you that the list you compile will surprise you greatly. Just because you live in a walled-in, newer suburban community does NOT mean anything at all. Go ahead and do your homework. I DARE YOU!!!!

Remember this year that the boy in Carrollwood was sexually abused and murdered by neighbor, a home in house South Tampa is also being ran illegaly as a sex offender boradingn house as well. Valrico and Brandon had one of the largest Meth Labs and the list goes one. While we are a long way from perfect, we at least have supportive, caring neighbors that all know one another. While we do need more activities that are more inslusive to all backgrounds for children, I think we are by far a better neighborhood.

I would suggest more people becoming more active in neighborhood activities. Get out, met your association and neighbors and I will guarantee you things will appear different.
