Street Anti Crimes Squad

The Trib did an article about the Street Anti Crimes Squad, featuring one of our favorite police officers, Sue Harmison. Sue used to be a beat cop for SE Seminole Heights.

I'm glad to see they are getting their due - they have worked hand in hand with us to make things better in the early morning hours. I went out on Tuesday morning (2:30 a.m.) and from the river to MLK only saw 1 BTV at that dark corner at W Ellicott and Nebraska - otherwise clean, clean, clean - not the way it used to be.

I really appreciate their efforts to work with and for us in making the hooka problem go away and stay away and letting the johns know that it is not business as usual.

WHy don't they start saying the prostitutes are on Nebraska Avenue and not always referring to them being in Seminole Heights?

I mean that's a pretty broad geographic brush to say the prositutes are in Seminole Heights when parts of the neighborhood are several miles away.

This sort of PR nuance really ought to be a focus of some of the neighborhood associations. How many times are we going to allow Seminole Heights and prostitution to be linked. It's ridiculoius.

Hammer the newspapers on their descriptions and eventually they'll change and start being more speicific geographically.

The Tribune thinks Seminole Heights is in South Tampa. They're too lazy to figure out where we are in the city and you want them to differentiate even further? ;-) Be realistic.

this specific article did focus on the hooker activity and the SAC squad stings in SH. Quite honestly, the only place SAC does stings (in my opinion) regarding hookers is in SH as we are so vocal about making the hookers go away and make an effort to work with the police to make it happen.
