History
I am very curious about the history of Seminole Heights. What was this area called before it was Seminole Heights? What was it known for? What is the oldest platted subdivision in modern Seminole Heights.
This was the original Seminole Heights blog with commentary about life in and around the urban neighborhood of Seminole Heights in Tampa, Florida. Musings about other topics as my mood permits. The blog is essentially inactive since I moved to Lutz. Go to The Official Unofficial Seminole Heights Blog - www.seminoleheightsblog.com for active content.

Steve G. is our historian and can answer all your questions. As a matter of fact, Tuesday 11/14/06 there is a history in pictures at the Seminole Heights Garden Center at 7:00 pm. I'm looking forward to it.

The first plotted subdivision actually predates Ft. Brooke, and was called Tierra del Payasos, platted by Hernado de Soto's third leuitenant, Carmen Electra. Gibsonton later tried to declare it's self Tierra del Payasos and a heated battle of words and childish seltzer sprayings ensued.
Later, this area was called Stinkytown. It was a place where tranny hookers who had been run out of Fort Brooke came to ply their trade.
