This was the original Seminole Heights blog with commentary about life in and around the urban neighborhood of Seminole Heights in Tampa, Florida. Musings about other topics as my mood permits. The blog is essentially inactive since I moved to Lutz. Go to The Official Unofficial Seminole Heights Blog - www.seminoleheightsblog.com for active content.

Congratulations Sherry!
Congratulations Sherry! Well done.
Wow, first you win the Chili Cook-off, now this. What's next? You know, you can still make the deadline to enter the mayoral race.
Congratulations!
Bite your tongue Bloggerwife!
So that's how you won the chili cookoff!!!!
(just kidding)
I know the Chili Cook off was close as heck. I barely edged out the runner up. It is all funny anyway.
Year one of cook off, made chili have been making all of my life, which everyone said was amazing. At chili cook of, not even noticed. Probably was dead last in competition.
Year two, planned ahead, selected recipe of the 2005 International Chili cook off winner. It required half dozen different peppers, and several pounds of prime beef, no beans. I went to at least 6 markets to find the various peppers. Soaking the dried ones, making the different "taste layers", cooking for hours. Thought for sure I had a winner.
Total lack of impression on the chili tasters!
Year three, this year. Vowing never again to make an over the edge complicated chili which was way above the taste buds of mere mortals (myself included) I went to food tv on line, read a zillion recipes, went for simple but different. Modified it, and it was great! Was relatively easy, took time but not like year two and was very tasty. Got good comments and was surprised to win.
So all you chili cook off people out there,,,,,,,,keep trying,,,,,it is fun and you might hit on something!
I think anyone who goes to that much trouble to win the neighborhood chili cook-off would be a fine mayor! You could fill your cabinet with spicy people, toss out the bad ingredients (code), and stir the pot a bit. I think the pot defintely needs stirring.
Speaking of cook offs, are we ready for that Grill Off yet?
Thus far the Grill Off has suffered from a lack of interested parties. Case of lots of talk, little action. Happens that way sometimes.
Still working on it,,,,,,,,
