Cool House
I had a chance to tour this house today, located at 1404 E. Idlewild. 1700 Sq Feet. The living room, dining room and kitchen share a very large space. The master bedroom is large with a whirlpool tub and a shower. French doors open off the master bedroom. I love the turret. There is alot of great detail work. The home was is owned and built by Quinton Mitchell and Larry Rushing. They have built 6 homes. The last one was on Clifton and was a new bungalow. They would be great to have an the home tour.
They succeeded in trying to capture the feel of granite curbs.

They always do such nice work and their houses are the showpieces of the neighborhood.
I was beside myself when I saw it being built.
I have delighted in driving by this as it has gone up, going out of my way to do so once I discovered it. It reminds me very much of the homes built by the city several years ago in Tampa Heights/ My only complaint is that it, and others like it, are not being built in Southeast Seminole Heights! So I address this to Quinton and Larry, who, like everyone else in town, must have read this blog by now. COME ON DOWN!
I agree that this is a beatiful house. I just don't understand why they put a sidewalk in the front. There is no sidewalk on either adjoining lot for it to connect to. Just looks odd to me.
because when you build a new house code requires that you either build a sidewalk even if there are not others within 5 blocks or contribute the cost to construct a sidewalk to the city's sidewalk fund and those funds are not even guaranteeud to be usd in your neighborhood - so you could pay for a sidewalk in New Tampa. Yet another code that doesn't make sense.
Thanks for the enlightenment regarding new house code, Greg. It would be nice if the city could waive that rule for a historic district. But damn, look at those curbs... Fancy!
It's a code that we "the citizens" thought would be great in a historic disctrict.
We have to those granite curbs and a spiffy looking drive now don't we.
Even if it does make us and Bungalowlady look like a$$ wipers now doesn't it.
We reacted without understanding the impact of our demands on others or builders, or buyers.
But, its only their money, not ours.
the curbs are not granite, just cut to look like them.
In my opinion every new house built should have a sidewalk e.
