Car Lots

Here is a proposed Tampa City Ordinance I would like to see.

Prohibition of commercial/business sales of used/new vehicles (cars/trucks) in Seminole Heights area.

To aid in the economic revitalization of the Seminole Heights area, the commercial/business sales of used/new vehicles in Seminole Heights is prohibited. Sale of these vehicles by existing vehicle sales businesses is allowed. However any change of ownership or new businesses are prohibited from vehicle sales. Subletting is not allowed.

Auto repair businesses will be allowed to sell a limited amount of vehicles

Sale by individuals of their vehicles is allowable.
Bicycles, scooters, motorcycles and horses are exempt from this ordinance.

You would think a little differently if you invested your hard work & life savings into a auto business in SH. And then someone came along and told you can't sell it as a auto business. What gives? They pay the highest rent/ taxes and employ alot of people ( not min wage jobs either) . Like it or not they are a valuable part of the SH business district. They were here before I moved to SH 20yrs ago and they will be here long after i'm buried.

If you don't like the car lots, please come over to Southeast Seminole Heights. We don't have a single car lot in the whole neighborhood!!!! The stretch of Nebraska between Hillsborough and MLK is getting prettier and prettier. We have a good variety of businesses and many of them are really starting to take an interest in making things better for the neighborhood. We are very proud in SESH to see all of the wonderful improvements being done and to see the beautification of our commercial thoroughfare.

Did anyone else notice that the former "gift shop" at Sligh and Florida is now yet another car business? Majestic Auto if memory serves.

>.<

I have issues with the *quantity* of these business in our area, not that they exist. As stated many times, they run up the rents to a level where no other type of establishment can get a foothold, leaving us with a HUGE surplus of used car lots and very little else.

The quantity is my issue with it as well. There are just so many!

Many of these lots are currently for sale. Sunny dates wants 3/4 of a million, and others are asking the same. Man, that's a lot of money. Thus, they willnot go away soon.

Well as long as I can still find a reasonable place to buy a horse...

Sunny Days has either sold or taken itself off the market. The
For Sale signs are no longer present.

I had been told by the girls at the counter of McNatts that the owner was looking at Sunny Daze to expand the processing plant. The property is zoned CI so it would be a ligit use of the property. Not necessarily a foward motion.

McNatt's needs to do something about their present location. They are way too small and employee way too many people for where they are. When you try to drive down Hanna it's a nightmare between the side parking from McNatts and ABC Autos.

PS: Why do all of the other McNatts locations get a face lift and our is stuck in the past?
