Looking for a Pet Sitter

From an emial:
"I'm wondering if you or any of your readers would be able to recommend a kennel/dogsitter service for a sweet, old chocolate Lab for a weekend away for her 'parents'. We would prefer someone or someplace in the Seminole Heights area."

I posted about one.

VetCare Harris Animal Hospital on Hillsborough has very reasonable kenneling rates, and a great staff.

My wife and I have been using Lori Diaz 2-3 times/wk for about 3 months...so far, so great! She's very caring and is pretty flexible for scheduling.

Good luck!

I use Secure Home Solutions. They are the best so far in Tampa. And the girl that does Seminole Heights is great, her name is Veronica ask for her. She walks my dogs every day and when we go away she takes care of them. SHS also does overnights and their prices are the best. Their phone is 813-363-1411 and their web site is
www.securehomesolutions.com

Veronica has a pet CPR certification also.

We use Laurie Gold who owns a pet service. Her email is pawssake@aol. She lives in the neighborhood and has a news letter that is very cute. We were away when Hurricane Charley was heading toward Tampa and she called us and told us not to worry she would take our bird and cat to her house if need be.

Maybe it was a fluke, but we got a phone call saying our cat died while being boarded at Harris. Also, we used Fuzzy Buddies for a few stays and while they have a nice pool for the dogs, the water was often in terrible condition. Our lab came home with over 30 ticks on his little butt after one stay - we never went back.

Re: they dying cat, that's very unfortunate, but I think as you say it was a fluke.

I have 3 dogs and 4 cats and have been going to Harris since 1997. I also have a friend that works there, and I just can't say enough good things about their services and quality.

Pawssake has been around for a while. I never had a need for Laurie until this past spring and I am careful about who watches the "children." I got feedback from a number of people who were pleased with Laurie's services.

On the down side. She is taking a vacation herself in a few weeks

Call SHS 813-363-1411 ask for Cindy the owner. Try them.
