Feeders Digest

Stephanno's Pizza is listed in the Trib's Friday Extra Feeders Digest"

"STEPHANNO'S PIZZERIA AND ITALIAN GRILL, 6607 N. Florida Ave., Tampa; (813) 232-9486. Hand-tossed pizzas, plus pasta dishes and hearty sandwiches, are the order of the day at this Seminole Heights take-out place. The pizza is good and generously topped, but the homemade focaccia sets the hot and cold sandwiches apart. ($) "

Their pizza is fabulous!

The only thing they are missing on their item which I totally crave is a philly cheeseteak!! C'mon guys!

A pizza from there is almost a weekly event for us. The best around in our opinion.

Agree with the above. We get pizza from there nearly every Wednesday.

A delicious addition to Sem Heights!! Try the calzone!! It just doesn't get any better.

After 3 tries (on separate occasions) and getting an aswering machine (on days their menu says they are open, we gave up. The food's good, but we can't order from an answering machine.

I think the days they are open changed not too long ago. I think now, if I am not mistaken, they are open Wednesday through Sunday. But I think their website still has the old hours.

I can get pizza anywhere. Too bad they can't actually cook their stromboli and calzone. raw dough is so yuck. Even on the 2nd try they couldn't get it right. How soon 'til Cappy's opens?

Stephano's definitely needs to keep better tabs on the quality, especially at his ridiculous prices - $18 for a large two topping pizza.

We've had some good pizza there but the last couple were not good, almost like they had been sitting around waiting to be topped.

I actually drove down to Gourmet Pizza Co. to get our last one. Best pizza in Tampa for $13.

With Cappy's opening, Stephano's better step up their game. OFFER SOME COUPONS OR DEALS.

If this guy goes out of business, let's not lament the loss of another independent entrepreneur. There will be a long trail of reasons most of his own doing.

I have to agree with the previous post. The prices are not reasonable. We are a family of four so ordering from Stephano's is not an indulgence we can afford although I did enjoy the pizza.

I was far less impressed by their pizza than most of the folks I've spoken to (Angelsil & hubby, my girlfriend); the boutique prices for the 'za raised expectations, too.

I came away disappointed (we tried the Hawaiian).

However, I order pizza maybe once a month, so it's not exactly going to matter a whole heck of a lot one way or the other.

Off topic, but I noticed that the Front Porch was being "tented."

Let's hope they take the opportunity to clean too! It's been a while so maybe they have cleaned it up since then but the last time I was there it was pretty gross.

Ybor Pizza and Subs anyone?

Anonymous said...

Sorry but I don't want to have to have emergency surgery thanks.

Anonymous said...

Really? Becasue you know thats happened there? Wow. Your super funny. Can I be you?

Tried Stephano's for the first time this past week. Sadly, I was not impressed. We ordered the white pie. It tasted bland... not enough flavor. Too expensive for the mediocre quality. I can't wait for Cappy's to open!

Anonymous said...

Cappy's will open in 3 weeks! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

If you eat at Ybor Pizza and Subs, I guarantee you will become violently ill or your money back.
I have heard from many a soul.
Kind of like, you don't drink the water in Mexico.
You DON'T eat at Ybor Pizza and Sub's.

I will just eat Totino's or drive a bit to ABC. can't wait for Cappy's to open. However, they don't take plastic, cash only...that sucks! Who uses cash? I am ready for Ybor to move out so something better and cleaner can move in.

Susan and I regularly eat Stephanno's Cobb and Caesar salads and Rigatoni Bolognaise. Great tasting items and good prices. His foccasio bread sandwiches are very good also

A few weeks ago, the "usual suspects" from SESH went out for some food at YBOR Pizza and I have to say that it was actually tasty. No ill effects here. While we have not actually been to Stephanno's, we will give it a try I'm sure. You should at least wait a few months for the "bugs" to work themselves out (not literal bugs of course). It's always trial and error for the first few months of any business.

Cappy's will be a fine addition and the Gourmet Pizza Co. has always been the best in town (The BBQ chicken pizza rocks). I almost wish someone would open a chain in SESH! Hmmmm.... Maybe we can get August to start his own pizza making business in SESH.

For those of you who don't know who August is, I'm sure Scott has the article in the archives. He's the local pizza artist who's got his own brick oven in his back -ard!!!

Sorry, but their Pizza is average at best. We get it out of necessity sometimes. I guess if you are used to Domino's you might think it's good, but compared to the Cappy's and Gourmet Pizza Co's of the world, Stephanno's just plain sucks. Like a previous writer said, they better step up their game real soon, because the second Cappy's opens, they won't see me again.

Anonymous said...

OK, the above comment is completely assinine. If you like your south tampa pizza fine, but no need to insult people who like Stephanno's. Only Domino eatin hicks have a palate thats not offended by Stephannos They must not suck too bad if youre waiting for cappys before you stop going. Opinions are like assholes yano, and yours stinks pretty bad right now.

Uh oh, here's Mia again in the pizza debate....

Anon 9:51:

I don't know how many times I or others have to say this, but please stop slandering Ybor Pizza & Subs with unfounded comments. I think most agree that Front Porch has issues, and Frida's did/does also, but your comment ("I guarantee you will become violently ill or your money back" is complete b.s.

Did you get fired from there or something? You certainly sound as if you have something personal against them. That's the thing that ticks me off about the debate on YP&S - the "against" comments are so asinine and hyperbolic! At least when I say that Front Porch has problems I cite specific things. I don't make blanket statements and ridiculous parallels to Mexican water. We are lucky to have a good restaurant, that has been here a while (before things got pretty) and is run by good people. Please get your head out of your a**.

Who uses cash? Umm I guess enough people for places to still take cash only? I agree with Mia. No one has actualy had any valid points to make about why they hate YP&Subs. Grow up. Don't like it? DON'T GO. However shut up about things you have no idea about.

Anonymous said...

We tried Ybor pizza and did not get sick (lol) but we didn't like it and I didn't know about the cash only thing so I placed my order and then had to find an ATM. I tried not to look real hard so I couldn't tell you if it was actually dirty or just gave off a dirty vibe. We just wanted to check it out because of all the blogging about it and because I am always willing to give the locals a chance. Bye the way, is Cappy's cash only too?

I have an idea about Ybor Pizza and Subs...you can tell a lot about a book from it's cover.
The dumpier the outside...the inside can't be much better..
Just look at 1002 Cayuga...the person living inside that house must be rancid.
OMG- I forgot..he works there.

Anonymous said...

WHAT IS SO HORRIBLE ABOUT HOW THAT RESTAURANT LOOKS?
i have yet for anyone to explain that one to me.

and if you have an issue with the exterior, maybe they don't own the building, ever think of that?

that is moot anyway because it looks fine and normal. not filthy, not trashed, not anything except freaking normal. Again I ask, what is your obviously very personal problem with the place and it's owner/employees? sorry that i don't search out neighborhood business owner's homes, or judge people and their businesses that i know nothing about, or use stupid internet teenager slang like "OMG."

Anonymous said...

Completely neutral comment here...

Ybor Pizza looks scary from the outside. It does not look like a clean restaurant.

Pepto Bismol pink is not a flattering color for a restuarant. Some might say it offers a harbinger of things to come...

Dear God in Heaven. If you like Ybor Pizza and Subs shut up about it already. If you DON'T like Ybor Pizza and Subs shut up about it already.

Anonymous said...

i will agree to that and in doing so, back into the shadows once again. I think we've all voiced our opinion (both sides)on that topic quite thoroughly.

Anyone up for a rousing "Kumbaya" circle?

Anonymous said...

Its more than a few different people saying that about Ybor Pizza.
I think they look gross and they employ totally nast people.
I am sure that guy doesn't know what hand soap is just from driving by 1002 Cayuga.
He is probably scratching his @@ and then making your double cheese and pepperoni.
David....please post the health inspection report for Ybor Pizza so we can judge for ourselves.
Remember, this report does not contain evidence of any @@ cheese or bacteria from sneezing on the lukewarm ground beef.
