Prostitution Activity

From an email:

"As many of you know, diligent efforts by our neighborhood watch groups and the Tampa Police department have virtually eradicated the prostitution activity along Nebraska Avenue.

Unfortunately, we have seen a few prostitutes in the early morning hours of 4:30 to 5:30 along Nebraska between Clifton and Henry Avenues. One is a black transvestite prostitute and the other is a white female with a blonde ponytail. One of our neighborhood watch vehicle patrol members witnessed the blonde female being picked up by "john" just this morning.

If you see any individuals fitting this description, or anyone else who appears to be a prostitute, please call the TPD non-emergency number 231.6130 and they will deploy an officer. Be sure to ask for an event number when you call so we can be sure that your call is logged into the system.

We've been very diligent in reducing this problem and have received amazing results for our efforts. If we can spread the word about calling in prostitution activity, we can completely change the reputation of Nebraska Avenue!. We are almost there already!"

Personally, last week I went to work earlier and around 6:30 AM saw an tall black transgendered prostitute in bright lime green very short shorts on Nebraska and Louisiana. I called TPD who as I later learned from a lieutenant was busy dealing with the man on the steeple at Seminole Heights Baptist Church. When they had time to look for him/her she/he was off her/his shift. So keep calling if you see him/her so they can arrest him/her.

This weekend I found a used codom and wrapper right in front of my house on McBerry Street.
Quite disturbing and disgusting.

Is that some of the "local flavor" that some of the anti-Starbucks crowd is saying the Starbucks will displace?

anonymous #2,

why don't you use the energy you expend in being negative to support some of the positive efforts your neighbors do to make the neighborhood a better place for all. Or better yet take your negative vibe and move to the neighborhood you think is doing everything right - it is obviously not Seminole Heights for you.

Nice one, anony.#2!

Anonymous #3;
Please control your negative vibe and negativity. A nice Frappucino at THE NEW STARBUCKS might help.

Writer should use the term "it" rather than him/her, her/his, she/he, etc., for clarity and conciseness

Transgenders are not its. Although the transgenders prancing around on Nebraska are engaging in prostitution and other illegal activities, I will not dehumanize them be calling them its.

If you see a hooker in the area, call the non-emergency number.

Too many people complain about them but cannot seem to take the time to actually call. It's easy to do. If you're feeling especially energetic, ask the operator for the "event number". This number is handed out at the end of the call and is provided by their software. It means they entered the call into the database. Give that number to your neighborhood watch coordinator along with day, time, and general description.

Normally, transvestites push the crack-ho's out as they are higher on the food chain. Knowing what type of hooker it is also gives experienced hooker patrol personnel some idea of what to expect.

The correct way to refer to a transgendered person is in the gender they appear as. A male appearing female is a "she".

Seminole Heights,
Worry not about "dehumanizing" such an individual, the very behavior in which they engage is infinitely more self "dehumanizing" than whatever effects mere words might potentially have.

Shawn non anonymous,
We are living in Tampa, not Berkeley. A male appearing female is a "freak".

We are living in Seminole Heights, the new home to the Metro Center, which provides services to the gay, lesbian and transgendered community

Sure we are; and when you see one of them offering their "services" in your neighborhood, you call the police and post internet alerts.
So much for tolerance or the celebration of "diversity".

We don't tolerate criminal behavior. Prostitution is a criminal act.

Any attempt to reason with someone with the mentality of anonymous @ 12:39pm is futile and only feeds their negativity. Statements such as that only indicate that they are either making statements purely to incite controversy, or theyre just plain ignorant. Either way such comments should be ignored.
