Signs worry Miller

In today's Tribune, a funny story:

"TAMPA - Former state Sen. Les Miller was heading out the door Monday morning when he saw a bunch of political campaign signs in his front yard.

The problem: They weren't his wife's signs for re-election to the city council. Instead, they were the signs of each of his wife's opponents, lined neatly in a row."

and . . . .

"Meanwhile, the couple is concerned that something else might happen. Les Miller said he won't let his wife out of his sight.

"We're two weeks away from the election," Les Miller said. "Who knows what the next step in their mind is?""

and . ..

""Are they coming back? I don't feel safe because I don't know who it is," Gwen Miller said."

TPD actually dusted the signs for prints. I think we need to call in the FDLE, FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security and Interpol. It must be the work of Al-Qaeda trying to destabilize American elections one City Council at a time.

Sheesh. What a big deal. If I were running for City Council and it occurred to me, I'd just laugh at it. I am frankly surprised it has not happened before to anyone running for office.

This is the same sort of courage she has brought to the District 1 seat and yet another reason we need someone in there to show some leadership. Vote Randy

Much ado about nothing. The concern should be about tracking down the campaign workers who indescriminately shove signs in the ground everywhere (including ones for her).

What a huge "oh whoa is me" leap from a bunch of signs in your yard to "something else might happen". If the rest of us got paranoid every time someone place a freaking sign in our yard or street, un asked for, we would all be afraid to go out,,,,,,,,,,,EVER!

Get a grip Gwen, no one cares about you enough to harm you.

wow that's pathetic - if she is scared of that, think how scared she is on the council.

she's probably scared to drive thru our neighborhood, too. Too many scary people around!Oh my, she may be solicited by a drug dealer, or heaven forbid, a prostitute!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

As a political advisor, this is the best way to get unlimited free publicity. Just think, once the media picks up on it, she will be a household name. Keep in mind that the majority of voters are ill informed and make decisions based on name recognition. Brilliant move from a not so brilliant council woman.

I have to agree with anon 9:29. Wonderful way to get media attention and the sympathy vote.

As for votoing for Redner, I have to agree he is usually fiery and hits the nail on the head without worrying about what people think of him. However, I have seen him several times during this election. He seems to have lost his fire and often his oncentration. Is he ill? He is not the old Joe this time.

Should my next door neighbor who is older than Gwen and Les be afraid because the "Baron" sign was removed from in side her property (not the right of way) and a Gwen sign appeared in from of her house the same day. Was the Miller camp stalking my neighbor?? Should my neighbor get security?
