Urban Improvement?

Well, I was hoping for better news, but I finally found out what's replacing the Blue Ribbon Supermarket in our adjacent southern neighborhood, Tampa Heights, at the sw corner of Columbus and Tampa St. I'm told through reliable resources that it's going to be a Family Dollar.

I guess the good news is it's no worse than what it is now (i.e., unkept vacant building).

Any word on if this is an entirely new venture, or a relocation of another store?

I'm guessing it's an entirely new venture. They seem to pop up all over the place.

There is a rumor going around that the Family Dollar across from Publix is up for sale. Apparently, they aren't doing well in Hampton Terrace.

That's what I was wondering. As that part of the neighborhood goes up in value, the catchment for their target demographic gets smaller. So I wondered if the new one might be a relocation from that one near Publix. I heard that it's only a lease and not a purchase on the Blue Ribbon spot.

Not sure about the lease or move thing, but for sure saw the Family Dollar sign in the window of the place to day. It's a definite.
