How are those boards attached to the window frame? It looks as if they have used something other than a nail or screw. Can you get a close up photo?
I drove by and took a look. (9th and Louisiana)
For the windows, he essentially created solid screens. He put screen hardware at the top of plywood cut to fit inside the window frames. I presume he latches it from the inside using a hook.
I'm not sure how this would hold up to a hurricane but I like it.
