Coffee Bean on Vacation

The Coffee Bean has been on vacation since the weekend before Easter. As time passes, people wonder if the Coffee Bean will return from vacation.

I used to enjoy them as an alternative to Nickos until their service became unbearable. They always had a problem with the staff not showing up and eating there became an all morning event. If they do go out of business, I hope a similar eatery goes in with more emphasis on customer service and better hours.

Agreed. I sadly never went because that's exactly what I'd been hearing. A friend went in for a quick coffee to go...and it took almost 30 minutes.

See, and I almost made a joke about them not actually going out of business, but that it's just taken them this long to get back from vacation. I was one of the 30-minute coffee victims.

Yep. I went once and was late for work because of the time it took them to make a cup of coffee. After hearing that this was the norm, I just went to Indigo instead.

They made fun of me for ordering a caramel macchiato. They asked me if I knew what it was. I expected the kind that Starbucks and Indigo serve. Then I got their history of Barista school and decided from that moment on that I would go there only for the breakfast sandwiches which are delicious. Starbucks and Indigo are great, but a good breakfast sandwich is the one thing that they are both missing. I would miss them if they never came back.

I too would be sad if Coffee Bean closed during this break, though I doubt that is the case. This is the slow period for antiques and retail in general, so perhaps that is why they are taking a break now. The food is good although they have had staffing issues which will hopefully be resolved. I've never had the 30-min coffee wait so I haven't been inconvenienced by the service issues - one of the owners always had come in when someone didn't show (when I was there for breakfast).

I really enjoy the Coffee Bean. I only go there when I have a day off and I'm being lazy. The food is very good and yes, the pace is slow. Definitley not fast food. I like the laid back feel. I talk to the owner and the waiter, read some of the many newspapers which are available...I take my time. Too bad if it closes. I wish we all had more time
to make a meal also a social visit, but I know that most days people are in a rush. Too bad.

I've been out of town for a while, and on our way home from Nicko's this morning we saw notices posted on the Coffee Bean. From the notes, it appears that they are indeed closing. It indicated that there's a chance it might continue as just a coffee, tea or ice cream place, but the fixtures are for sale.
While the service left a lot to be desired at times, it was a delight to eat there when we had plenty of time, the food was quite tasty. We will be sad to see them go.
