So the Tampa Greyhound Dog Track is going to quit operations, according to the Tribune.

The assessed value is $3,860,680. The current owners do not have a homestead exemptions.

Finally there is an auto service/ garage with 1,782 heated square feet.
Last years taxes were $98,433.68. However the asessed value went down last year from $4,199,926 to $3,860,680 so the new taxes will be $82,895.75.
Additionally there is additional parking across the street, abutting the Sulphur Springs Park that the owner also has. This land (without the office tower which is owned by a church) is valued at $2,704,928. The garage comes with the land.
This would be a great party house. Plenty of parking for hundreds of your friends. You could jog in the morning on your own personal running track and never be disturbed by your neighbors dogs. Plenty of bathrooms. Big backyard to walk your dogs in. Easy access to the Interstate.

I guess this means that I can stop giving people wrong directions to the track, lol. The animal cruelty aspect of the establishment sits poorly with me, so when people ask me directions: "Yeah, just head south on Nebraska for about a mile and a half, it's on the left, you can't miss it" hehe.
Now, what will take it's place?...
I'm betting another church to compliment the lovely one across the street. Or perhaps they'll mow over the complex more concrete to match the surrounding decor.
On the other hand, they still have gambling there so I'm betting (no pun intended) nothing will happen with the land except for maybe the addition of more places to gamble.
(This isn't a testimony on gambling, as I like to gamble once in a great while -- but I think it's a very realistic option for what may happen to the place.)
Yippy!!!! I am completely against Greyhound racing. If the public knew how those dogs were treated, you would all be sick.
It'll be interesting what moves in.
This is especially interesting since they just opened up a new card room, jammed the place full of guests and invested in all kinds of signs and billboard concerning the new activities. LOL.
Ask them to explain the survey trucks they surround the place with. LOL !!

Let's get this right though. My understanding is that they are making more from the card rooms than the dog track, so that's why the dogs are gone.
From things I've read, the card rooms and remote betting on horses, dogs, etc. will stay in place.
They will still have a presence there ... just will have virtual tracks instead of the real thing.
Am I wrong on these points?
