Will the Seminole Heights Starbucks close? News is out that Starbucks will close 600 stores nationwide.
"Seventy percent of the stores to be shut are less than three years old, the company said." . . . . "Most of the 600 stores to be closed were opened in late 2005 and 2006". . . . "During that time, more than 50 percent of the new stores had drive-through service". . . ."Florida and California are among the largest states affected" . . . ."estimated the stores were taking 25 percent to 30 percent of sales from nearby locations".
The Seminole Heights store fits the profile. However I wonder if its proximity to I-275 (drivers gonmg to work and easy visibility) and heavy neighborhood use will keep it open? Will there need to be a letter writing/email campaign to save the Starbucks?
hopefully our Starbucks will survive, as far as I know there isn't another one anywhere near the Seminole Heights location so at least it's not taking sales from other locations like the story mentions.
ReplyDeleteAs busy as our Starbucks is, and with the lack of any other nearby Starbucks, I seriously doubt/hope its not on the list to close.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine this affects the stores in areas where there are Starbucks almost across the street from each other, or in situations such as in the Brandon Mall which has *two* Starbucks. Really, who ever thought a mall needed multiple Starbucks?
Yeah, start a letter writing campaign to save Starbucks while you drive by local businesses that sell perfectly good coffee everyday.
ReplyDeleteI heard a while ago that the Starbucks in Seminole Heights is the busiest in Tampa. I'm not sure how true that is, but if it is I would imagine it is not in danger of being closed.
ReplyDeleteI would love to find a local coffee shop in Seminole Heights, but the only one I know of closed (the one on Florida). Are there any others?
I just found a blog that had contacted starbucks about to find out if the Seminole Heights Store in fact was closing.
