ARE YOU ONE OF THE 105????

It is not quite 5:30 and a whopping 150 people have voted today in an election that is extremely important to SH! I voted first thing this morning, it took under five minutes and I know I had my chance to help SH have a political voice in the next four years.

If you don't vote, then please say nothing in the next four years about how anything is run in the City of Tampa! You don't have the right!

The candidates that will help our area of town, need your support. You have an hour plus to get out there and have a voice!

GET OFF THE COUCH, OUTTA THE BAR, OUT FROM IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER, OR YOUR STOVE AND VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I'd think paying taxes levied by the C of T should give one the right to say something about how the city is being run regardless of wether one voted or not.
Besides, voting could be mandatory under penalty of death and if you have no one worth voting for it's still a useless endeavor. All you do by voting is to give the thieves a cover of legitimacy.

  2. As a taxpayer, regardless of how much pissing and moaning you do, you can't affect whether or not those people making the big decisions keep their jobs, no matter how poorly they perform. Only as a voter do you have any chance of that. Apathy is what led us to where we are today. Doing nothing will certainly guarantee things either won't change or get worse.

  3. Hey ifly, Right On!

to anonymous@5:55 PM: Your vote is one of the legitimate ways you, a citizen of the City of Tampa, can say something about how this city is run, whether you pay taxes or not. And at 7:50 this morning, I did not vote for any thieves.

  5. I voted at 7:34 this morning. There were a ton of cars when I pulled up, but my husband and I were the only ones inside voting. Apparently, Hillsborough students were all parked at the church. This discouraged voters because they thought it was very crowded and they would come back later, which of course they never did. This should have been addressed!

  6. Anon,
While I feel that you have a valid point about parking, I still have to say WHAT THE BLOODY F?
As a citizen of this country, no matter how badly or not that we might disagree with how things are,
we have two, count 'em, two responsibilities: pay taxes and vote.
I'm apalled at the turnout city-wide, which the supervisor of elections was hoping for 24%.
Please, 24% ? So, the people that were elected by a majority of the monority get to decide how we are taxed.

Good going for all those that didn't vote.

    Maybe next year.

  8. I'm proposing a new law. Here's how it will be: If you don't vote, then you cannot complain about what the elected officials do. If you do complain you will fined a 20% of your income or net worth whichever is greater.

Maybe someone would actuallygo to thepolls. They seems to bitch a lot but can't figure out when to vote or where.

  9. When people with brains, do not vote you get the Gwens and the Kevins in charge. And before you liberal nut jobs accuse me of being racist, I am a life long democrat, and have no issues of color. I have issues of intelligence. Kevin is greasy and stupid, no fashionable duds will ever change that. Gwenn is the human equivalent of a silly putty. She has no thoughts of her own and she contributes absolutely nothing. She is an embarrassment to our city.

It is pretty sad indeed, when a porn king is the best man for the job!

I suggest that this area get off the stick and figure out that what we expressed in yesterdays election will affect our ability to do business with not only the city, but with businesses and residents looking to make SH their home. We are greatly harmed by yesterdays mass apathy!
The most fundamental right in a democratic society is the right to vote. Taking it for granted, letting others decide is criminal.

    SH should be embarassed!

  10. Would just more ppl voting have changed the outcome for your boy Randy?
I think not, I voted and I voted for the porn king and will do it again in the run-off.

you totally miss the point. it's not necessarily about WHO you voted for, but rather that you voted at all.

I'll respect you more just based on that fact that you showed up to vote, never mind the fact that you may or may not have voted for the person I most despise.

  12. There were two votes for Joe in my household, we live in S.H.
We plan on voting for The Porn King in the run-off too. For those that didn't vote, now is your chance to make up for it and get out there this next time around and Vote For Change on the Council. That is not gonna be Gwen. VOTE JOE REDNER !!!!

  13. South Tampa has a population that is overall more educated, makes more money and has more at stake if an election does not go with what they need. The majority of our district is poor, mainly minority that have the mentality that they have a system that takes care of all their needs and they do not have a voice, the system will take care of them.

Our two votes will cancel your two votes.

Give me a do nothing at all candidate over a spiteful do nothing _good_ candidate any day.

We're voting for Gwen because she can be TRUSTED to do no harm.

  15. So Tom Scott, and Charles Miranda won there districts. I believe if Joe gets elected over Gwen in the run off I bet that Joe would rattle both there nerves. Tom Scott voted in favor of the Gay Pride ban and left the room at County Commissions meetings whenever Joe spoke. And I know that Charles Miranda can not stand Joe for his strip clubs ie..the 6 foot rule. God I hope Joe wins! I love drama.
