Panera - Rumor Revitalized by 3rd Party

This is not a judgement on the good vs. bad of corporate biz in S.H., but rather the latest buzz I've heard through a 3rd party and long time resident of S.H. This person claims to have spoken to Al of the mini-mart (next to the now empty lot that Al owns at Osbourne Ave and Nebraska Ave). Al allegedly stated that Panera looked at Osbourne and Nebraska for a new location -- but instead has bought LeRoy's 4x4's (by Starbuck's) property with intentions to build. That said, a rumor is a rumor and I have a call and email into the franchise department of Panera in hopes of confirmation ... stay tuned.

Al supposedly also alluded that new office buildings are likely to be built on the Osbourne/Nebraska lot.

  1. I spoke to someone who has lived near Starbucks for 30+ years. He also alluded to this back in May, so it may be true, but it's taking a while to develop...

  2. For what it's worth, the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser shows the property is owned by a trust - Merry R Willis Trustee. Panera may have a contract to buy it, however. One way to find out would be to contact the city's Land Development office -- to see if anyone has filed to change the zoning of the property.

  5. I too have heard very recently that Panaera Bread has bought the Leroy's 4x4 property. This comes from the same reliable source as Starbuck's so I believe it. Can't wait for some hot Panera bread. Mmm good!

  6. Zoning for either parcel would not need to be changed as they currently will support a commercial business. For the Osborne corner a Panera would never even be considered. Look at their smallest location - it's larger than the Starbucks that was built - this parcel would never be big enough to build much less stormwater and parking - additionally it is not on a major intersection. RE: Leroy's and Panera - that rumor has been floating as long as the Starbucks did - so now over 2 yrs old.

    Ain't gonna happen.

  7. well, your logic is a little flawed
you dismiss the paneras rumor by demonstrating that the starbucks rumor persisted for a long period of time prior to development...but the starbucks rumor came true....
