This was the original Seminole Heights blog with commentary about life in and around the urban neighborhood of Seminole Heights in Tampa, Florida. Musings about other topics as my mood permits. The blog is essentially inactive since I moved to Lutz. Go to The Official Unofficial Seminole Heights Blog - www.seminoleheightsblog.com for active content.

designer/architect/builder
From a reader: I live in Old Seminole Heights (though not part of the historic district). My wife and I are considering adding on to our home (we have the space). Can any of the blog readers suggest a designer/ architect/builder?
From personal experience, Bill Robinson Contracting is the BEST. There isn't anyone else I would ever trust to work on my home. I can't say enough about him...

I agree with Dirk Peters. An architect or designer is the best place to start. Alan knows the neighborhood very well and is extremely skilled and creative working with these older houses. It's best to develop a "plan" first. Alan could develop drawings for you to find a qualified contractor. Nothing against contractors but there is an inherent confect of interest with a design/build contractor planning your addition.
As a follow-up, Elizabeth Graham employed the services of Alan Dobbs for Forever Beautiful and Bungalow Bistro. She used him when she originally moved the buildings and more recently, help her get through all the city's building department hurdles including the ARC.
