I Am Really Curious.....

My daughter and I went to the movies last night to see Children of Man (don't bother) at Channelside. Sunday night at the movies is a bit slow so was not surprised to see that the ticket sales were at the Customer Service Service Desk inside the door. However, I was surprised to see a single ticket sales person in the usual outside sales area........with a sign that said "Indian Tickets Only". Is this some sort of new thing? The man behind the counter did appear to possibly be Indian (not American Indian) and Borat is still playing at the theater. I am dying to know. Is this all related? Was Borat possibly offered in some form only Indian's would see? Do Indians wish or need to be segragated in either ticket purchasing or movie viewing?

Anyone have a clue?

  1. This has nothing to do with the movie Borat or the ticket agent or the customers purchasing the tickets.

Next time you are at Channelside, take a moment to look around at the movie posters displayed. There you will notice several Bollywood (India's Hollywood) posters. These movies are shown only on Sundays.

These movies are usually a big draw, hence them have their own line at the box office.

  3. Okay, I'm sorry, but does anyone else see the elephant in the room????
Did you really think that a movie chain would have a line for people of Indian nationality only and that it was linked to Borat??????
Do you grab your purse a little bit tighter when a black man walks by you?
You may not think that your question did not have racial tendancies, but it did. We (Americans) are so infected with our Channel 8 hogwash news, that we loose scope of the rest of the world. Try turning on the BBC a few tinmes and leave Bob Hite behind.
I really don't mean to come across so harsh, but come on...Borat? By the way, little geographical lesson. "Borat" is a Kazakhstanian, a prodimently Russian influenced country which sits on the northern shores of the Caspian Sea also bordered by China. There is a small population of Muslims who have migrated from the Southern surrounding Middle Eastern states, but for the most part; its all Russians. Ballywood, presently known as Mumbai; formerly known as Bombay (think Gin)has about as much to do with the movie Borat as Walmart and Versace have to do with each other.
Get out a little bit more and talk to the Spanish woman at the office, you may find she doesn't have 12 kids and 25 grandchildren, but only looks like she's 41.

  5. OMG Michelle, forgive my sorry attempt at humor. I did not know about the Indian movies, but I did not seriously think it had anything to do with anything I suggested. Was just fastinated by it and wanted to evoke a response, which has been hard to come by here as of late.

So lady relax. I of all people have no trouble with diversity of any kind,,,,,,,,the only elephant in my living room is my end table!

  7. Yesterdaze, ageism was the piont or were you focusing on the fact that said woman was Spanish? Just kidding, relax.
Touche' Couldbesherry! I do get a little hyper sometimes.
I do agree that the blog needs some spice. Ever since David made it a "user only", the comments are dying down, but on the other hand it does make people fess up for their actions.
