This was the original Seminole Heights blog with commentary about life in and around the urban neighborhood of Seminole Heights in Tampa, Florida. Musings about other topics as my mood permits. The blog is essentially inactive since I moved to Lutz. Go to The Official Unofficial Seminole Heights Blog - www.seminoleheightsblog.com for active content.

Hot Topics!!
The latest on the ole' Dis and Dat is that there will be a school or single business of some sort on the top floor and 4 different stores on the bottom including a restaurant, probably Caribbean.
What address are you referring to? I am looking for retail space in Seminole Heights that can be converted into a class kitchen and can hold 12 people cormfortably. (Cooking classes, personal chef biz)
Michelle, This the red brick two story building on the corner of Ida and Nebraska, in front of the old Eckerds Drugs, present Advance Discount Autoparts store on corner of MLK and Neb.
is anyone concerned about parking for all of these proposed tenants?
I can't think that the Discount Auto parts store is going to legally allow then to take over their parking lot - the attorneys will have a field day with liability issues.
The lot you speak of is zoned CI so there would not need to be a change or special use permit needed to use it for parking - if it was a residentially zoned lot then a SU2 permit would need to be applied for.
It would all come down to how much are they willing to pay for that lot - I think I was told it was for sale for $250,ooo when I was looking at the building - don't quite remember the exact price as I was not going to sink that much into the building, repairs and then buy a lot for parking on top of it.
I wish them good luck - any building that goes from empty (for the most part) to a viable option for new businesses is a good thing for the 'hood.
Technically Cappy's has no legal parking - DOT has fits that the right of way parking requires backing into oncoming traffic to leave the space - I'm not a fan of that method either but ya do what ya need to do. The empty lot parking across the street from the building is allowed courtsey of a monthly rental allowance - which I hear is not inexpensive.
