We have famous band in Seminole Heights or at least used to. The Genitorturers. According to an article in today's Times, Mr. and Mrs. Torture lived in Seminole Heights.
"Yeah, I used to live down the street from them in Seminole Heights - 'Mr. and Mrs. Torture,' " said my co-worker John Martin, almost yawning. "They had chickens, and she used to come out in all leather and work in her garden."
The writer notes that "Alex Henderson of allmusic.com . . . "Gen is a real-life dominatrix who has described the Marquis de Sade as a 'literary master,' and the band's over-the-top live shows have included piercings, whippings, spankings, and other kinky activities."
They apparently are a world touring band.
So what other famous or semi famous bands do we have out of Seminole Heights?
I have actually seen them in concert.
ReplyDeleteDelightful is an understatement.
Well it's not Seminole Heights but Savatage was a Tampa/Clearwater band. Tampa is also home to some of the better Death Metal bands like Morbid Angel, Death, and Cannibal Corpse.

The infamous GG Allin played his one and only Tampa performance at the Harbour Club back around '89 or so.

Seminole Heights <3s Myspace!
2 members of the now defunct Magic Bullet Theory live in SH as well...
ReplyDeleteI think all of the Seminole Heights musicians should get some kind of "guild" of our own together as well...share musical tastes and knowledge, etc. The best bands I've discovered are ones that people told me about. Hell, maybe a drum circle will even form.
