Found an interesting webpage from the UF/IFAS Okeechobee County Extension Service, ca;;ed "What's that in my tree?"

"People are concerned that all these unusual things are killing their trees, and want to know how they should be removed.

Only few of these plants are harmful. Most are "just there", while a few of them are actually rare plants that deserve recognition. "

The plants mentioned are: Christmas mistletoe (Phoradendron serotinum), Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides), Ball Moss (Tillandsia recurvata), the Giant Wild Pine (Tillandsia utriculata), the Southern Needleleaf (Tillandsia setacea), Wild Orchids, Florida Butterfly Orchid (Encyclia tampensis), The Resurrection Fern (Polypodium polypodioides), lichens, Gandoderma fungi.

Also I found the "The Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants " a joint effort by the Institute for Systemic Botany, the University of South Florida and the Florida Center for Community Design + Research to provide users with a comprehensive searchable database of vascular plants in the State of Florida. "
