This was the original Seminole Heights blog with commentary about life in and around the urban neighborhood of Seminole Heights in Tampa, Florida. Musings about other topics as my mood permits. Hampton Terrace - historic district?
An email: "My husband heard that Hampton Terrace is no longer being considered for local historic district designation. Do you know if that is correct?"
There is currently a small committee gathering information for a scheduled neighborhood discussion on Sept 12 at 7:00 pm at the Seminole Garden Center.
The city's historic preservation department has done a survey of the historic fabric in the district and determined that it would be beneficial for the national district to go to a local level. It is now up to the neighborhood to determine if we choose to move forward in this process - hence the meeting scheduled for Sept. All homes in the district will receive a notice regarding the meeting at a closer time.
The proposed boundaries are Hillsborough to the south - Hanna to the North - Nebraska to the west and 15th Street to the east.
The rumor would be just that.
