In a recent kind email I received someone said "you have never censored one thing I have said."
I only censor comments because they were spam (90%); or because they were patently offensive in the choice of words used; or because they were making personal attacks on people, listing personal information, and were perceived as inviting or inciting violence.
People may disagree with me or with others on the blog. People may get a little heated. People even may use some cuss words (how quaint - cuss) astericked out. That stays. Frankly it makes the blog more interesting, not as some drone stepford lockstep everyone-is-in-agreement with-each-other website.
Also we may learn from these opinions. Over my lifetime I have modified my opinions on several things over the years as a result of people's comments. Often times even in the most opposing comments there are some truths or degrees of truth or nuggets of truth that can bear looking at. There are some things or aspects of some things Kelly Benjamin has said I would agree with or even some aspects in Flyer Anonymous I can agree with (have to dig pretty deep though to find that nugget in F.A. though.)
Here is the nugget from F.A. and the other resulting comments. Code is not working as well as it should. At times it is too harsh and at times it is too soft.
Bear in mind sometimes the person is just a plain idiot. That's okay. Idiots make the rest of us look smarter and are fun to laugh at.
How bad does it have to be for you to call the cops on them?
ReplyDeleteYou are a better man than I!!
ReplyDeleteI once heard a wise old man say the same thing...idiots make the rest of us look good and are fun to laugh at.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny.
they are good to work around as well.
As long as you work around complete idiots, you're job is always going to be safe...unless you are the head man on top.
FA is just plain vulgar and abusive.
Cut the crap FA we all remember you asking shrekswife is she swallowed. If memory serves, she said "you suck", which I myself did not take in the context that you followed it with. Sorry, dude, you are living in a glass house. And how does filing felony charges against you constitute as vulgar and abusive? I'd say youre pissing people off to the extent that you should really watch youre back.
ReplyDelete-fh
Hey you posted a lot of people's addresses on here which wasn't cool.
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect, now that I found out Bungalowlady turned on Becky and Keith I understand you a bit better Flyer Anon.
As mad as I may be at someone, I wouldn't go posting anyone's personal info on here.
We all have to live together.
You were pretty nasty to Maria Garcia though and she didn't deserve that.
She is so sweet and makes me want to tell her husband to move over...anyways..
Maria, Maria....where my ho Maria at? I needz a good ho by my sidez.
The only time you even quit is when YOUR name and address got put up here.
That was the funniest moment in Seminole Heights Blog history.
Oh and Maria...if your not busy call me
Finally you make sense without being a total A double S hole.
ReplyDeleteCode probably would like that but then we couldn't hide anymore.
The Narcs would be Narc'd out.
You could revisit the idea for Bungalow Lady's flyer.
ReplyDeleteNo one would be complaining after the assault on B+K.
I'm just a closet convert not reformed.
ReplyDeleteIts better left up to you
Most of us Narcs in SESH are not too bad. Its OSH apparently.
ReplyDeleteWe don't want to ruin someones life over a gravel, granite, grass, whatever in the he!! drive.
If you can promise to leave us alone and focus your flyer activities somewhere else, we won't bother you anymore.
ReplyDeleteDeal?
You better take the d@mn deal or I wouldn't want to have to call the toad enforcers on you.
ReplyDeleteFunny how Fl Anon started chillin his a$$ dow after everyone found out who he is. You should still watch your back.
ReplyDelete"Most of us Narcs in SESH are not too bad"
ReplyDeleteIs that like being kinda' pregnan?
Permanent Link posted by Flyer anon : 7/11/2006 10:53 PM
See now THATS funny.
I am assuming he is taking the deal because not only does he not want me to whip his you know what but he also doesn't want me calling the Bufo Toad enforcers on his you know what.
ReplyDeleteThose are similar to the regular Toad enforcers but carry much greater powers.
I do think Kenny knows whats good for him but isn't man enough to admit it.
We all should show him a little respect now that he has moved on to OSH and is leaving us alone.
He is a little funny every once in a while but I think you ought to apologize to Maria.
You provoked her. She has only been nice to the neighborhood folks and to our association.
Things might not be the way you see them Kenny.
We wanted action with the people who were doing the most damage. Not with the minor stuff.
The things we are concerned with are trash and dumping.
Do you want to live in a place like Sulphur Springs where you can't even walk down the road?
If thats what you want, then go for it.
We can forgive you and start anew.
I'm not sure if Maria and Code, or Rose can though
You should try being nice once in a while too.
You might get more people to want to help you if you were nice instead of turning you in.
Kenny, Oh Kenny, you are such a child. I think you should move to the woods, or an island or your own mountain. Some place where you can live like you wish and not either bother or be bothered by those pains in the rear - neighbors. I bet you’re a tough family member also.
ReplyDeleteI do know one thing, you speak with little knowledge about a whole lot of different things. You constantly accuse people you do not know of things they did not do. You make huge assumptions about how they feel and who they really are. I have the distinction of knowing everyone you have attacked, either by name or by category. I now know you, because of your endless, meaningless dribble. You are a rock in the shoe of a community that is trying hard to blend together peacefully, it’s many different cultures and people. To this community you offer no help, no participation, no answers. You bring to the table only criticism, and a quick wit. What a lot of wasted energy.
I don't know if anyone is trying to blend peacefully anymore.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like everyone has the attitude of screw thy neighbor and turn them in for stupid things and not own up to it.
He is right about one thing, people need to start owning up to these anonymous calls to code.
He is also wrong for how he went about handling his anger.
I am starting to see whats going on now.
I piss you off, you find something so minor to call me in for or you have someone else like the neighborhood watch person do it.
Then laugh about it like its funny at the meetings.
Maybe if you were more professional with the way you speak about us at the meetings instead of blabbing your big fat mouths to everyone that we are now criminals due to a driveway.
It may seem ok to you but it's NOT. So either STOP or step down and let someone who is just a little less blab-free do the job and maybe we will support you.
I am thoroughly disgusted with what I have been reading.
Weasely Weasles.
I am anonymous for fear of being called in to the city.
ReplyDeleteI will clarify my statements.
I actually have never been to a SESH meeting before so i won't speak to that.
I honestly haven't seen anyone complain here about you all except for Kenny either.
However, I have seen heated exchanges between citizens and other neighborhood organizations and someone laughing at a meeting about having someone in trouble and not being able to fix it.
Like its some kind of a joke.
I cant do the work myself so when I get work done, I usually get ripped off and worried about who I hired and for my safety and then I get generally depressed.
So to do that to someone on purpose and laugh about it, cuts to the raw, unadulterated bone.
Granted again it has nothing to do with SESH, it just hurt to see that so I apologize.
If that truly is the way some people feel about their neighbors, maybe its time to let someone else do the job.
A chicken head is a chicken head no matter how good you may look on the outside.

ReplyDeleteI think you need to step back and take you false spot light off of bungalowlady - she did not turn B + K in and has not harassed them. She co-ordinates all the complaints for the association and follows up to see that the lackeys under Curtis do the job our taxes pay for. I know her and she does not have a personal vendetta against B + K. She was announcing the status of the house on Broad as it had not been resolved via code and had gone to the variance review board - she was making a committee report - does anyone remember the other cases she gave updates on or do you think there was not enough glee in her voice to make it sound like a personal vendetta.
Get over it - Becky already claims that they had no part in the illegal driveway put in on a Saturday without a permit so just drop it and stop riding someone who has taken the time to make the system work that we pay taxes for and expect results from. I think it is a bigger crime that we as taxpayers have to have someone follow up to get closure for ligit code issues - every issue turned in to code has a stronger presence for the neighbor that has to deal with it. If it isn't a code issue for you then ignore it.
I am starting to like the code officers.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they dont do anything for you because you make false complaints against people and they can see through your BS.
From the records I have requested it looks like they don't slack at all.
It looks like the association (via Susan Long) has plenty of complaints made.
A little too much if you ask me.
I have to defend those when I think they have been wronged.
And it does sound like she has a personal vendetta against them since she lives on the same street.
Broad Street.
Everyone who gets written up for BS should have a right to know who is turning them in for it.
If someone takes pleasure in that, then people should know.
If they are doing it because it is a bad house, broken windows, then I never said I have a problem with that.
I think certain people take pleasure in screwing us.
I am just trying to make a living, pay my taxes, and don't want to be harassed.
You guys don't want to play fair, neither do I.
Come clean Anonymous callers. Let everyone know who is causing the problems...I think I already know though and have compiled a list of names through public records.
Is your name on the list?
Probably.
The chicken heads have taken over Old Seminole Heights.
ReplyDeleteCan't we all just get along?
ReplyDeletebite me........
ReplyDeleteI work and pay taxes and go to school and maintain a home in the neighborhood - IF you have found my name in the records you have gathered then it would be for a ligit complaint. I realize that not everyone has time to mow their yard every other day - I'm guilty of that but if you take the time to cut branches and pile them at the curb in a 5 foot high stack that is then overgrown by weeds and vines then Hell yes I'll call your lazy ass in. If I start a job like that then I make sure I have time to cut them up and put them out for garbage pick up or in worst case come back to it the next weekend not leave it there for 4 months until code has to be called to address the issue - worse case pay one of those little men driving around the hood looking to haul stuff for $20 bucks and be done with it.
Minor peeling paint sure it's an eyesore but a whole house that hasn't been addressed for years - I'll call - ditto on the unlicensed car with weeds up to the doorhandle - if you want to open a junk yard then move to an industrial zoned property not a residential neighborhood - better yet donate the car to a non-profit - I'm sure they have someone that would appreciate it.
I did not get the memo on your being appointed the czar for the underclass - the downtrodden - don't speak for me I know how to address the issues and I make an effort to show my pride of ownership in my home - it may not be in Avila but I damn well like it and I want my neighborhood to continue to move in the right direction.
One man's BS is another man's thorn.
Calling code on crap - why is that not fair? If there are financial hardships for the owners which have resulted in the home going into disrepair then the city has programs to assist in making the corrrection to take the house of the violation list.
I think your time would be better spent in assisting those people the association is "picking on" to help resolve the issue.
Bite me back!
See, thats the problem.
ReplyDeleteYou think you know the best way to spend MY time and how I want to work on MY home.
And you readily admit that you enjoy calling on people who might be having problems at the moment.
You sound like you really take pride in it.
To heck with everyone as long as I make the people I don't like move out of the neighborhood.
It's about more than the grass isn't it.
You sound like you are a tough talker and then when it comes back to bite you, you blame everything on someone else or make it someone else's problem.
Wait until you have a problem and no one wants to help you.
No one cares, and no one is interested in jumping on your bandwagon.
Are you going to run the show by yourself?
Thanks for putting all those words in my mouth - I appreciate how well you really know me. I don't have a personal vendetta unlike you. I do many things within my neighborhood that I do not expected to be repaid for or even acknowledged for.
ReplyDeleteTalk to your shrink as your medication is not working - reduce your anger and get over yourself.
Talk about deflecting the blame.......
Quote "I realize that not everyone has time to mow their yard every other day - I'm guilty of that but if you take the time to cut branches and pile them at the curb in a 5 foot high stack that is then overgrown by weeds and vines then Hell yes I'll call your lazy ass in"
ReplyDeleteYou are assuming I'm lazy and that is the reason I might not be able to do it that day.
I am disabled Bungalowlady.
I am not making assumptions about you...only summarizing what you say.
You aren't so bold as to post under your real name.
It's that anonymous calls, the anonymous postings.
You hide because you know what you do is wrong.
A driveway being written up pleases you?
Was it not done the way you want it done?
You are the one who assumes things not me.
Quote "Calling code on crap - why is that not fair?"
Maybe it's not crap.
Its just not the way you would do your yard and so you call it in.
Then you go on to say the city has programs to help once you call me in.
Well, I'm not a minority, female, or unemployed so what exactly do I qualify for?
You are rationalizing your motives.
It seems to me that you are mean spirited, evil, and well a "witch."
Let the city do their job anbd you stay out of it ok.
If the city wanted to write up that drive, I suspect they would have.
But they probably didn't.
You probably made them do it because I can sense how you are.
If they thought it was that bad, they probably would have jumped on it.
Obviously, they must not have.
Stay out of everyone elses buisness and worry about your own.
Anon 10:46
ReplyDeleteYour assumption that it was bungalowlady posting is FLAT OUT WRONG - So much for assumptions.
My point with the branches was that there is not always time to complete a job started but when left in the yard long enough to be overrun with vines and weeds then it becomes a lazy/indifference issue.
The calls/faxes and followup that come from bungalow lady are all clearly marked as coming from her in representation for association members - there is no hiding behind anonyomous there.
I'm sorry your having a bad day - week - month - year - life -don't take it out on your neighborhood who only wants to see forward movement in an area that has been neglected for so long.
You call bungalowlady out for assumed "anonymous" postings and how do you sign your rant?? Nerves of steel there.
I'm done answering to your rants - many others have chosen to ignore them and I think it is time for me to take my cue also.
Signed
Greg
I know you are covering up for her.
ReplyDeleteTrust me on that one.
I can't put my name on here or my house will be called in too.
I can promise you that.
At least David lets me express my feelings on this blog instead of taking it out on my neighborhood directly.
My feelings are this, OSH sucks a big fat one with the way you treat the neighbors.
How many people come to the meetings 5, 10 at the most 11?
Ever wonder why you don't progress in membership rather than stay stagnant?
I have heard in SESH that the neighborhood president personally gets involved if the person is having problems with code enforcement and volunteers her time to help them.
Now, why cant OSH do the same instead of laugh at others predicaments?
I don't see Bungalowlady saying that she is offering her time to help clean up others yards?
Maybe she should?
I haven't been on the blog in about a week. But, someone told me about this thread and so I decided to check it out. Anonymouse 10:46 you misguessed. I am not the one who responded. I always use Bungalowlady when I respond.
ReplyDeleteYou do not have to be black, female or anyother minority to get help from the city through the diversion program. All you have to do is tell the Code Board when you go that you cannot afford to do whatever repairs were requested. They will refer you to the diversion program if it is truly a financial issue.
Shawn-non-anonymous and Greg, and anonymous, thanks for the support.
Support?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they made you look like a true jerk.
If that is your support system no wonder you all are truly f'd up.
I almost started to think differently about you until you thanked them.
Oh geez.
You three or four go drink some Vanilla Latte with a sprinkle of Cinnamon and think about the next person who's life isn't up to your standards and how you can screw them.
Sounds like a conflict of interest to call in someone using association letterhead for a personal Broad Street Vendetta.
I also said I'm not unemployed in addition to the above things.
ReplyDeleteSo what again do I qualify for.
Do you all take that into consideration when going on your screw the neighbor festivals.
I have the money, it just goes for things I need like food, medicine, laundry, an insurance bill that is about 5 times higher than I used to pay in previous years and gas that is close to $3 a gallon.
But you want me to completely remodel my house because you don't like the way it looks.
Please. You have crossed the line with me.
Is the city going to rebuild my house for me to bring it up to your standards even though I work?
Let me know the name of a person I can call to get that done so you will leave me alone
You could always try to get in under the "persecuted omnipotent one", or the "nobody understands me cause I like my house filthy and in disrepair" categories. Or hell, you could probably con FEMA into fixing it up for you. Just tell em that you moved it here after Katrina, I'm sure they'll take one look at it and cut you a check on the spot. Poor thing.
ReplyDeleteLet me get this straight Bungled Up Lady.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to do is tell the code board when I take a day off from work to go that I need help to do the repairs that you requested I do to my home and they will refer me to some magical program to totally remodel my house and make it look like new again so you all will never call on me again?
Are you living at Disneyland?
I don't want your sympathy.
My house is very tidy thank you.
I want you to stop using the city for your personal vendettas.
If you want to be anonymous in complaints, those complaints should be denied.
Case over.
That way the system won't be abused anymore because people will stop making false complaints and complaints for things like a driveway.
You choose to come forward, then your complaint gets heard.
And no more going through Bungled up lady to skirt the system.
You must be identified.
And don't tell me the hudled up masses of the poor and disenfranchised will then be affected because you obviously don't care about them either.
you are truly a bitter individual and I can tell by your comments that you do nothing but complain. If you partook in any of the activites of the neighborhood (instead of taking your persecuted stance) you would be aware of the membership and activity level of the associations and exactly how many people attend the meetings ( 5 or 10) maybe at your meeting of the woe is me club.
ReplyDeleteBitter - party of ONE!
BTY - the last I heard OSHNA currently has paid membership of over 500 people - they must be doing something right. Certainly more that the attendance at your last Bitter anonoymous meetings - right?
I would assume your house has already been turned into code that's why you have such a stick up you A## - no need to sign with your name - they already have you on their list.
Good assumptions but you are wrong 1, wrong 2, and wrong #3.
ReplyDeletePaid membership is different from active participants and those who have lost a tremendous amount of respect for you over the last couple of months.
Nobody cares about the association anymore.
Everyone wants to move over to SESH which is exactly where I am looking to buy.
I respect that neighborhood association and that president.
She isn't a full blown narc and pimp.
If there is a legitimate problem from what I hear she doesn't try and pawn you off to code.
She comes to your house and helps you.
So who is the real A$$hole here?
You.
If you have enough time to call in someone, you have enough time to go over and help them.
You don't want your anonymous system to go to waste because then you won't be able to continue your tyrades.
Full disclosure is the way to go.
No more false complaints.
There needs to be a complaintant in order to go forward to code and it will cut the crap out and not allow the association to have personal vendetta's.
waaaaayyyyyy too many assumptions on your part buddy.
ReplyDeleteCut the crap.
ReplyDeleteWe all know youpost anonymously too.
A lot of wasted energy in this thread. (and so far removed from the original post)
ReplyDeleteSome thoughts and observations.
1.The suggestion that letters or cards be sent from the association (SESHCA, OSHNA, or SSHCA) to the properties in perceived violation is a very good idea. It use to be don't that way in OSHNA when I was on their board in from 93-95. That is how it was done before I was on the board and I don't know if it is still done that way or not. That is how we did it in South Seminole Heights when I was on their board from 96-01. I don't know if that is still the practice.
2. No matter how code issues are addressed the person receiving the notice is going to be a bit pissed off to say the least. A bit of empathy and compassion goes a long way but they are never going to love you.
3. There is a lot of inuendo and assumption. I believe we all know the saying about assuming. If there are facts that you can attribute to a paricular individual then that is fair game to challenge.
4. As to the annonimity of reporting violations. There are people who would rather attack the messenger than look in the mirror. In South Seminole Heights the equivalent of Bungalowlady did not have name and number in newsletter because individual(s) unknown had actually shot through the persons front window.
5. If you don't like the tone, tenor, or direction of your neighborhood association then attend the meetings. Both Old Seminole Heights and South Seminole Heights board nominations open with their July meetings. Elections are in October.
Ps. I have more than paid my dues and have every right to complain about what I don't like. If I don't like what I see in my current neighborhood (OSHNA)I have every opportunity to work to change it or run for a position on the board. All these complaints with very little positive suggestions is not constructive.
Rick
The cards aren't sent out and that would have been much appreciated to give me a warning first.
ReplyDeleteI might not have felt under attack.
I think the current board wants to hide using code and thats why no warning was received.
Except.
I saw a nice man on TV named I think it was Greg Barnhill who said he was a Christian.
This was when the church got shut down recently by 275.
He was the only one who looked sincere and was almost crying when the church said the OSHNA was racist.
I believed him but everyone else seemed very cold and uncaring.
It seems very underhanded to me to call my neighbor in.
Then have no one in the office tell you who it is that complained.
Then have the neighborhood assc using code for what looks to be personal retribution against a neighbor.
Very backstabbing.
I would have felt better getting a courtesy card from the neigborhood than being backstabbed right from the start.
Finally, a poster who makes sense without being a jerk like the rest of the "friends" of Bungalowlady.
Anon 10:53
ReplyDeleteCome now, would your really have been courteous to the neighbor who comes to your door to bring some issue regarding your property to your attention?
Does your property's appearance say to people "welcome to my home"?
We've heard from many posters how they've tried the good neighbor approach and only got scorn in return.
Be honest with yourself --- you would probably tell your neighbor to go fly a kite. (or worse) And just out of spite make the situation worse.
You make so many excuses for why you cant fix up your property, but you know excuses are like a$$holes.
Every one has one and they all stink.
Ever heard of the saying "where theres a will theres a way?"
Look at Southeast Seminole Heights. They have a home improvement team. Neighbors get together to help each other work on each others houses. Great idea.
And the lady that started it did so because she couldn't afford to hire people to do things and so she enlisted the help of neighbors.
I'll bet none of the people in that club get reported to code.
And if they do, I bet their neighbors come to there resuce.
Maybe you should try to do the same where ever you live.
But that would mean you would actually have to do something.
Are you up to the challenge?
Just a friendly suggestion.
Sometimes you have to get kind of creative to come up with solutions. And just complaining about your problems and making excuses doesn't really solve anything, does it?
Think about it.

anon 10:53
ReplyDeleteTruly what would you do if the association sent a card to you to tell you that you had an issue to be addressed on your home? You would say that you do not live in a gated community and who are they to be picking on me. As the above poster states - it's always someone else who has a problem - passing the buck never works.
Regarding OSHNA using code to harass people - you could not be farther off base. The neighbors that are affected by the issues use their association to make sure that followup happens and the issues are addressed.
Look at how long the people that lived on North and Lambright had to deal with the parking issues creating by the building being used as a church. It was not the church that created the parking issues directly - it was the prior owner of the property that sold all of the vacant lots for houses to be built on that created the parking issue. If you had gone to the city council meeting for the zoning request or been involved in the 3 year battle you would have know - no one had issue with the church in the neighborhood - it has been there since 1925 with different congragations through the years - it only became a problem when the parking was sold off. OSHNA was there to co-ordinate meetings with zoning/landlord and neighbors to get the issue addressed - they were there when the code violation was dropped becasue the property changed hands and the whole process had to start over. 3 yrs is a long time to not be able to access your property during services. It wasn't about the church - it was about the parking - I'm glad the association keep the ball moving on the issue.
Don't throw stones when you have made very broad based assumptions.
I check in on all this every few days to see what is new. I want to say that the man referred to as a concerned Christian man, was not Greg Barnhill but rather Bill Dovall, ex pres of OSHNA and current president of THAN.
ReplyDeleteAs to turning in a neighbor. Most times it is the last resort. I find very few people take this as a first course of action. But when you try to communicate and get the cold shoulder at best and "screw you's" then you just give up and look for help. I truly believe, because I have seen it with my own eyes, that if a neighbor really needs help and can get past being suspicious of an outstretched hand, then they will receive help instead of harrassment. Problem is most of the people in this situation are NOT there due to a lack of funds, but rather a lack of honor, or caring. If you are poor, and need help, but have a clean property, even if in disrepair, people are likely to help, if you will allow them. I know all about kids and working and no time. But you just get the kids to help, and you do it. Maybe not perfectly, maybe not all the time. But you try, and when you do you find your neighbors are more apt to look to help you rather than to hurt you!
Just tell the truth.
ReplyDeleteYou use the city to harass us all the time.
My friend in SESH never has these kinds of problems and his house is equivalent to mine.
I think its the association who has the problems with the neighbors.
You automatically take the neighbors side that complains first.
Dont you all have a life?
Let me refer you to eharmony.com so you will get off your royalty train and start bicycling.
You cant make excuses for your behavior even though I see you try.
There are some whoppers typed here.
Surprise last poster......if your comments were addressed to me,,,I live in SESH, not OSHNA. I am not sure who you refer to as taking the complaintants side first. But generally I personally, take no one's word for anything. I research first.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah and I have a life,,,,,,,a damn full one. I just give a darn about where I live.........
I wasn't referring to SESH poopyhead.
ReplyDelete
