Not to be confused with Sweetbay Supermarkets. I was perusing Cheaper Than Therapy when I came across a link about something I forgot would be of interest to Seminole Heightsians. I have never been to the Sweetwater Organic Community Farm but someone in Seminole Heights Book Group belongs to it. It is located at 6942 West Comanche Ave.
"Sweetwater Organic Community Farm is a non-profit organic farm and educational facility located in Tampa, Florida. Founded in 1995, this example of Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) serves approximately 150 members and supporters, and operates on 6 acres of suburban property along Sweetwater Creek in Hillsborough County. Produce pick-up for members is Thursday (4pm to dark) and Sunday (noon to 4pm), and produce is distributed every week from fall through summer (early November–mid-June, depending on weather and growing conditions). A season's harvest includes a variety of greens, herbs, fruits, and vegetables."
We were members of the farm this year and more than likely won't be renewing our membership. Althoug the vegetables are quite yummy, most of them are some variety of salad. Every week we got bags and bags of salad (especially in the first couple of months). It grew old pretty fast. Only towards the end you get the good stuff (carrots, celery, brocoli, squash, etc).
ReplyDeleteIf you are a hard core vegetable lover, you'll love it. For the average person, probably not a good choice.
