Don't Fence Me In

DON'T FENCE ME IN

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise

I want to ride to the ridge where the West commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide country that I love
Don't fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please
Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies (do do-do, do do do-do-do-do)
On my cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise (ba be ba ba ba)

I want to ride to the ridge where the West commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in, no
Pop, oh don't you fence me in

  1. unless it is industrially zoned new barbed wire is a CODE VIOLATION. Made Bali Trading company take theirs down a few years back.

  2. Most of Nebraska Ave is zoned "CI" for "Commercial Intensive" which is an industrial-type zoning. Without looking at a zoning/land use map (which I don't have handy right now) I can't say for certain if that specific lot is CI. 90% or more of Nebraska in the Hampton Terrace area is CI.

  3. The code rep for OSHNA presented a list of all business on Nebraska and Florida (from Hills Ave north to the river) to the code enforcement department concerning all barb wire on fencing. It is slowly being taken down - I am under the impression that barb wire in the city limits is illegal.

  5. The list of barbed wire was from MLK to the river on both Nebrask and Florida. Some of it, though, is grandfathered in. Graduatlly Code is dealing with it. Very Gradually
