Views of Cappy's Pizza

I do not know when Cappy's Pizza is going to open, but it looks like a first class operation.

Thanks for the info and pics on the new restaurant. I've been wondering what type of establishment this building would be. We need some good restaurants in our part of our town. (I love on Osborne and Highland.)

No smart remarks on the typo yet? I\'m shocked.

I just want to say it does my heart good to read positive things going on in Seminole Heights like Cappy's and the beautiful new house. I gives me hope!

Sherry, do you live in the park???

ramer- money is money . debit is not the new cash. every time you use your precious card the business has to pay. stop being lazy and carry cash and quit
moaning.

while i admit that a cash-only policy can be inconvenient, businesses are charged to accept cards by the bank, and they must pay for the equipment, plus a percentage of each sale goes to the company that runs the transaction. so maybe their (Cappy's)prices are lower since they don't have to pay all that other $ out. Every small business that i've worked for has always complained about what a rip-off the card deal is - and i know it is a part of doing business - but as i said, they usually build those charges into the cost of their goods/services.

i just remember which places don't take cards and come prepared. that way i don't have to go to the ATM and go back - i hit the ATM on the way. or carry cash. by the way, many gas companies, for one, are charging you more if you use a card instead of cash.

They should put an ATM inside Cappy's. That way you don't have to leave to get cash and someone makes money off the fees charged to take the cash out. Win/win situation, right?

Wholly Smokes BBQ has a ATM machine right by the register. Works great - they charge you a small fee - surcharge , worth it to me though.

BTW - since we are talking food ; if you have not tried dinner at 3 Coins in awhile try it again ! They have a NEW CHEF ! OMG - the food is totally different and wonderful even plate presentation ; Donna sat our plates of pasta down and my husband I were both speechless !!!! Looks and tastes great !

I don't think they need to worry about taking cards. I have rarely been to Cappy's when there wasn't a wait so it's not really hurting their buisness. Nicco's doesn't take cards either. I just want to know when Cappy's is going to open. The best Pizza in town within walking distance from my house, now that is something to be excited about!

What an amazing patio! We haven't had a nice outdoor place to eat in the area since Rigo sold his place and the new owner moved it.

That alone will get me there!

Nicco's has an ATM. I believe the arrangements on such things are the ATM company gets a fee, Nicco's gets a bit of the action, and my own bank likely takes their chunk too. I pay a bit to all three. If Nicco's takes my debit card, they have to pay the fees to all involved.

However, never underestimate the amount of impulse business lost. If we're driving home and think "gosh, I'm hungry and don't wanna cook..." we will pass Cappy's by and head to ABC Pizza where we don't have to worry about what's in our wallet.

Am I OLD or what. I have never used a ATM!

Now the question is will Stephanno's step up to the competition or will he wither and die?

Lower prices, increase quality pal or you're history. Give people a good value, there's plenty of business to go around.

The pizza wars come to the Heights. I'm ready to benefit.

So Shawn does this mean you will or won't go to Cappy's or do you just need a reason to be pissy?

I have gone to Nico's and not realized I had enough cash and had to use their ATM - it's a $2.00 surcharge so if you go to Cappy's or Nico's go prepared because a cheap meal ain't cheap if you add $2.00 on top of the bill.

YOUR OLD!

Anonymous said...

Holy crap people... It's only $2.00. I mean, if you're bitchin' about two bucks when you eat out then you probably don't need to be eating out. Stay home and cook a 5 for $5 box of Totino's from the freezer. Sheesh! It's not like you all eat Cappys every day! I could see complaining if you eat there morning, noon and night and always have to pay the service fee.
And why are we even talking about this subject? We don't even know if Cappy's will have an ATM or not. And I will agree that debit cards are the new form of cash! It's very rare for someone to actually have money on them. (unless you're 60+ years old and don't trust those darn banks anymore) Get with the program. Use Direct Deposit, Use and ATM, live a little... Pay a surcharge every once in awhile. If it taps into your retirement and savings, then you need to stock up on cat food and eat that when you get the urge to eat out. Enjoy...Yum. (Damn you old people)

Will someone please just tell me when it is opening! I will gladly keep a stash of cash just for my pizza fix.

I am old! Cause i've never used a ATM. and now my doctor won't let me eat Pizza - high cholesterol. I am sick and tired of every snack I eat has Barbara Bush's picture on the front of the box. Living in OSH since the early 80's when there were very few choices for dining it isn't fair now there are many resturants and i can't eat the food. It suxs.

Anonymous said...

Cappy's has really good salads too- maybe your doctor will let you eat that? Barbara Bush's picture on food would be a good diet for me, it would certainly make me lose my appetite!

Anonymous said...

I stand corrected It's not Barbara Bush it's the Quaker Oat lady I just thought it was Barbara Bush. My wife said i'm no looker either. hows that for a birthday gift, man I'm gettin old.

I NEVER carry cash!
One of the older gentleman I work with actually goes to the bank a few times a week to take out money. It cracks me up. I'll make to tell him to dine at Cappy's and YES, I am always one of those people that forgets & has to go in search of an ATM. It is very annoying - I rather pay the fees.

It's funny that this has become such an involved conversation when we don't even know that this Cappy's isn't going to take Credit Cards. The other one doesn't but this one might. I belive the other Cappy's is owned by 2 guys and this one is a solo operation by just one of the owners. I guess we all just have to wait and see.

Anonymous said...

I don't care what they take - tell me when are they opening and I'll bring everything I have to buy a decent meal in the 'hood!

Anonymous said...

Where are all of the people that will be visiting Cappy's Park?

Anonymous said...

Hopefully some of us can walk there but since you ask... have you been to the South Tampa Cappy's? Parking is a nightmare & it does NOT keep people away (atleast not to my knowledge).

The article a while back in the Tribune said they WILL NOT take cash. Here is what will hurt them. You take cash for pizza and a beer, run in to neighbors and decide to hang out for a few more beers...oopss I only have XXXX dollars, you are screwed. Personally, I see any business that does not accept credit card as pure greedy. They are afraid of losing the 2 or 3% service charge fee. For God's sake, raise your prices 2 % and get over it. Who Carries cash???

Anonymous said...

Heh... an anonymous coward is calling me names. That's amusing.

Of course I'll go to any good business here in the Heights. And if you'd manage a little reading comprehension instead of taking potshots at real people behind an anonymous account, you'd have gotten that. (If I had trouble with reading, I'd be anonymous too. So I do understand where you're comming from.)

If Cappy's is good, I'll go. But I'll go less often if a trip to Cappy's requires a trip to an ATM. ABC Pizza is nearly as close and has an ATM. Not a comment on pissiness as much as a comment on laziness. (or efficiency or fuel savings)

Taking cards or offering an ATM is service. Businesses with good service do better than those with less good service. A good pizza that is fast and convenient is better, in my book, than an excellent pizza that requires more effort on my part to aquire. Of course, we eat out often to avoid labor, and those that eat out for other reason may not share my aversion to working for my restaraunt food.

Shawn, I share our sentiments. I keep finding that I have insufficient cash. Ergo, I can't go to that restaurant to eat. But, if there's an ATM or they take debti or credit cards, I'll go. Simple. That doesn't mean I never go to places that only take cash. Just less often than I would if they took plastic.

Anonymous said...

They don't take granite as payment.

Anonymous said...

WHEN DOES THIS PLACE OPEN, I HAVE MY CASH READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the owners of the Seminole Heights Cappy's. They are a franchise from the Cappys in south Tampa.

The reason for cash only is that the original Cappy's has always been cash only. They are simply following a successful business model that works.
